Entry Types
Snap & Send
The Snap & Send competition allows those with mobile devices that have cameras to enter into the Kimberley Art and Photographic Prize. There are many budding amateur photographers out there and we want to see al marvelous, 'Kimberley inspired', photos you have taken. Please see some hints and tips for taking great looking photos on phones below.
Take Many Shots
Use burst photos to take a multitude of shots as your subject moves. Go back later and select the best looking one for your submission.
Stick to the Outdoors
Due to smaller sensors, very few smartphones can produce excellent indoor shots, therefore we recommend taking outdoor photos where the natural light can assist in creating the perfect conditions for your photo.
Use the HDR Function
High Dynamic Range (HDR) adds detail from the dark and light areas to create a more balanced exposure. Essentially stopping the sky from being too bright and the ground from being too dark.
Apply the Rule of Thirds
Set up your camera grid and try to capture the most interesting parts of your image where the intersections occur on the grid. This gives the photo a more natural feeling and allows the eye to flow around the picture with ease.
Entrants can submit two (2) submissions each. five (5) winners will be selected by the public during the exhibition, and each will be awarded $100.00 each.
Please select 'Entry Form' to submit your Snap & Send. If you are not submitting an artwork or photograph along with it, simply type 'N/A' into the required fields relating to artworks/photographs.
